Yaba College of Technology meets the needs of students,
lecturers and the
international research community with an extremely rich and
diverse range of library resources provided by the
institutions and other bodies.
The Main Library in the College is an Ultra Modern structure
which constitutes the Academic nerve centre of the
college. With its Departmental Units, the College library presently
holds a total of
68,000(sixty-eight thousand) volumes of books and has a
seating capacity for 1,000 readers. The College library is
driven by X-Lib Software with 20,000 books currently
registered on the software for efficient management of the
College books.
Yabatech
is also home to several other libraries of national and international
repute and rating. Such libraries include Departmental
Libraries which have divers collections of research work,
students' projects, etc. The Main Library; College Library; which dates from 1988, is also one of the
oldest libraries in the Country and in Africa as a whole. It has effectively been a legal
deposit library for nearly 18 years and as such can claim a
copy of every latest books and periodical. Yaba College of Technology is
actively involved in
equipping
its libraries with the latest Resources to meet up with the
latest Technological and Academic standards. Sequel to this, the
British Council donated 2,600 volumes of books to the College
in September 2005.
At a formal presentation of the books, the Director Lagos,
British Council, Nigeria, Sam Harvey declared that the
Council's Association with the College has been a mutually
rewarding tie and the donation was to seal the continuation of
the valuable partnership. In his welcome remark, the Rector,
Olubunmi Owosho applauded the Council's gesture in donating
such huge volume of relevant books, stating that "they are
topical".
The books donated cut across Engineering, Environmental,
Science and Humanities. The rector assured the Council that
the books will be judiciously used by the Students and Staff
in advancing the College programmes in imparting knowledge and
acquisition of skills towards profession excellence |
