Welcome to Building Technology

WELCOME TO BUILDING TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT.

The Department of Building Technology is undoubtedly the oldest in the School of Environmental Studies, deriving its root since 1947 when the Institution was created and named Yaba Technical Institute. Then, courses offered were in Carpentry and Joinery.

When departments were created in 1968, the department was known as department of Civil Engineering and Building. Many of the presents leaders in the construction industry were products of this great department.

In 1981, the school system was introduced and the Building program emerged in the School of Environmental Studies under the department of Building and Quantity Surveying. With the blessing of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in April 1987, the department of Building and Quantity Surveying was split into two, and the department of Building Technology became a fully autonomous department.

Experienced Lecturers, seasoned Instructors and Technologists recognized by National and International professional bodies abound in the department.
