Welcome to Computer Engineering

WELCOME TO COMPUTER ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT.

 

Computer Engineering Department is one of five departments in the School of Engineering.  The department was established in November 2006 after an approval was received from N.B.T.E. in October, 2006 as a result of resource inspection visitation in May, 2006.  The commencement of the programme witnessed deployment of four academic staff from the department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

 

The first set of Thirty-Four (34) students commenced lectures on December 18, 2006. The second set of the thirty two (32) students were admitted in the 2007/2008 academic year. The third and fourth sets admitted in 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 are made up of 115 and 67 students respectively. The department will begin her HND programme in 2011/2012 academic session having obtained approval from NBTE during the last resource inspection. The department now has five academic staff and one laboratory staff.

PROGRAMMES AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING.

 

The entry requirements for National Diploma admission into Computer Engineering Department are as follows:

Five (5) credits passes at SSCE or its equivalent at not more than two sittings. The five subjects must include English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other one subject from Biology, Economics, Geography, Further Mathematics and Agricultural Science.

The general entry requirements for Higher National Diploma programme include:

1. All the requirement for admission into the ND programme;

2. Minimum of lower credit pass in the ND examination in Computer Engineering

3. A minimum of one year cognate work experience
