Welcome to Industrial Education

WELCOME TO INDUSTRIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT.

The department is the brain Child of the Federal Government of Nigeria through a bilateral agreement between Nigeria and United States of America in 1981. It was basically designed for the training of Science, Technical and Vocational Teacher in some American Higher Institutions of higher learning. They were to train Science and Technical Teachers for the newly introduced 6-3-3-4 system of education and was called Technical Teachers Training Programme (TTTP).

However, the Federal Government of Nigeria localized the TTTP in 1981 in some Universities, including University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1981.

Yaba College of Technology was one of the additional institutions added to other partaking institutions in 1993/94 session and was affiliated to University of Nigeria Nsukka.

Industrial Technical Education had been the first department or unit as was then called.  Department of Industrial Technical Education was the first to be granted full accreditation by the National Universities Commission.

Industrial Technical Education comprises of the following options:-

  1. Building/Woodwork
  2. Auto/Metal
  3. Electrical/Electronics
