Yabatech Trains 120 Students’ Union Executives, Paramilitary Bodies
Yaba College of Technology has begun the training of over 120 students’ union executives and para-military outfits of the 2011/2012 academic session as the new session takes off.
The Rector, Yaba College of Technology, Dr.(Mrs) Margaret Kudi Ladipo at the two days training workshop implored the students’ union executives and para-military organisations in the college to show exemplary leadership that would be emulated by the students populace.
The two days training workshop programme was organised for the 2011/2012 academic session newly elected students’ union officers and para-military outfits in the college for the peaceful co-existence and sustenance of harmonious relationship that has been inexistence in the college.
Dr. Ladipo in her welcome address further said that the value built by the students at their time as leaders will launch them to the larger society as future leaders.
According to her, you will agree with me that the impact of the generality of our students will be felt positively or negatively depending on the leadership style of the executive of the students’ union and para-military outfits.
‘If your leadership styles displays the right attributes, you can be sure to expect positive performance and if the leadership style is poor what you will expect is poor performance’; she said.
The college management, Dr. Ladipo said, is conscious of the students’ union executives vital role and strategic position occupied in the operation of the college which has necessitated the orientation through the workshop which as become a policy to organise it on yearly basis.
She, however, said implored the para-military outfits in the college to be proactive, security conscious and devises strategies to keep the outfits and others in their stead and check.
