SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMETAL STUDENTS GET AWARD

The Managing Director, Win Development Limited, Mr Idowu Raheem has promised to give an award to best students in each department from the School of Environmental Studies with effect from the 2011/2012 academic session.

This was made known at the commissioning of Architectural studio and the School library.

Raheem, who sponsored the library said the five years renewable award is to create healthy rivalry among students and to reward hard work.

The Yaba College of Technology alumnus said a library makes an institution as well as her students relevant and recent in a changing world. He noted the dwindling proficiency of graduates which he adduced to outdated curriculum, lecturers’ goals diversion and most importantly are students’ distraction and insincere government funding.

The Rector, Dr. Margaret Ladipo who was overwhelmed that an alumnus of the College had attained a peak in the building industry said the provision of a School library stocked with current books will aids acquisition of relevant skill in a technology environment which will go a long way to boost reading culture amongst students. She equally appreciated Nigerite Limited for building an airconditioned studio.

The Dean, School of Environmental Studies, Mr Inyang-Udo said the branded studio meets the universal accepted standard; therefore, he implored staff and students of the departments to ensure its maintenance. He hinted that the School of Environmental Studies Professional Advisory Board (SESPAB) also donated volumes of books to the School library.

Ladipo commended the proactiveness of the Dean and Head, Department of Architecture, Arch. Adenekan to reach out to the industry for the need of the School and charged other members of staff to love the system and “see your position as a challenge to greater height.”
