Fagbemi Commissions Yabatech Bakery

The Governing Council Chairman, Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, recently commissioned Yabatech Bakery a project designed to improve the internally generated revenue base for the College.

Fagbemi congratulated the governing council, Yabatech Management, Staff and student for another landmark achievement; he eulogized the administration led by Engr. Obafemi Omokungbe for his tenacity to drastically improve the revenue base of the College.
He noted that in April last year, the College commissioned Yabatech Water and in the same year a Bakery has been commissioned. He therefore advised that the quality of the bread should be sustained.
During his welcome address, the rector, Engr. Obafemi Omokungbe disclosed that the highlight of activities of his administration is to improve the Internally Generated Revenue base of the College.
According to him, to fulfill the mission of IGR, the College consult was mandated to commence the construction of two major projects; the first was Yabatech Consult Water which was commissioned in April 2019. The second project which is the Bakery has also been successfully completed and I commend the governing council team headed by Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN for their support and approval of all our projects, the management team, the Director of Consult and his team who have worked tirelessly to ensure the completion of this project despite the challenges.
He said that the benefits of the project to the community are numerous; the community will have access to healthy food such as bread, cakes and pastries made in a clean environment.
“Some of our students particularly in the Department of Hospital Management will henceforth be absorbed for their SIWES in the Bakery. Also, the bakery will provide employment directly and indirectly in the community, and the College Internally Revenue base will ultimately improve. The Bakery is equipped with modern equipment and tools that are environmental friendly. It has a standby generating set to provide constant power supply”.
The Director, Yabatech Consult, Mr. Inyang Udoh disclosed that the Bakery journey started about a year ago with the designing work and was expected to be completed in July last year, but for one or two unforeseen circumstances it was delayed for four months. The building has been practically completed. Equipment has been procured and we are currently carrying out test running and in the process of obtaining NAFDAC approval to produce four types of bread and cakes.
